ISLAMABAD, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and two others injured after the roof of a house collapsed in Swabi district of Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police officials said Thursday.
The incident occurred in the Azadkhel area of Swabi, where the roof of the house collapsed due to heavy torrential rainfall, trapping a family underneath, according to local police officials.
After the incident was reported, rescuers retrieved the bodies of two family members from the debris, while two critically injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital, the officials said.
Heavy rainfall also caused other weather-related incidents in Swabi district, said the police, adding that rescue teams also evacuated residents from several affected areas.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast further heavy rainfall in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with authorities warning of possible flash floods and urban flooding in vulnerable areas. ■
