KABUL, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security personnel have discovered a large amount of weapons and ammunition in the eastern Khost province over the past six months, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday.
The contraband was discovered during a series of discovery operations across the province, according to the statement.
Security personnel have taken into custody several people on charges of keeping arms and ammunition illegally and referred their dossiers to the judiciary for further investigation, the statement said.
Police will not permit anyone to smuggle, carry, or possess ammunition or military equipment without legal authorization, it added. ■
