ISLAMABAD, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Nine militants were killed during separate intelligence-based operations in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, security sources said Tuesday.
The operation took place in a mountainous area between Ziarat and Harnai districts following an intelligence tip-off. Security forces surrounded a militant hideout and launched an assault, killing eight militants and destroying the hideout, the sources told media.
In a separate operation in Surab district, another militant was killed after security forces detected militant movement and established a cordon, the sources added.
Ammunition, magazines, hand grenades, a walkie-talkie, a motorcycle and other equipment were recovered during the operations, according to the sources. ■
