YANGON, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar recorded over 3,500 dengue fever cases and 10 deaths between January and July 2026, with the Yangon region reporting the highest number of cases at more than 2,000, the Ministry of Health said on Monday.
The number of cases and deaths decreased compared with the same period in 2025, Kyaw Kan Kaung, deputy director general of the Department of Public Health, told Xinhua.
Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral infection, occurs most frequently in July and August, he said.
In 2025, Myanmar recorded 12,320 dengue fever cases nationwide, including 44 deaths, he added. ■
