JAKARTA, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least 269 students in Indonesia's North Sumatra province have been hospitalized since Thursday after developing suspected food poisoning symptoms following lunch meals, local media reported Friday.
The students, from five local schools in Karo Regency, reported nausea, vomiting, skin rashes and, in some cases, breathing difficulties. They were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Local education official Zulkarnain Barus said a fish curry dish was suspected of causing the illness, adding that food samples from the supplying kitchen have been sent for laboratory testing.
Barus confirmed that all affected students are currently in stable condition. ■
