ALMATY, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan's annual inflation rate has declined for 10 consecutive months, reaching 10.2 percent in July, National Bank Governor Timur Suleimenov said Thursday.
The decline was supported by monetary policy, appreciation of the national currency, stabilizing consumer activity and coordinated anti-inflation measures by the government and the National Bank, Suleimenov said.
As of July 1, Kazakhstan's National Fund and foreign exchange and gold reserves totaled 127.3 billion U.S. dollars, while the National Fund's investment income reached 2.3 billion dollars in the first half of the year, Suleimenov said.
In late July, the National Bank's Monetary Policy Committee lowered the base rate to 16.75 percent per annum, citing slowing inflation. ■
