JAKARTA, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has prepared measures to accelerate the development of unmanned aerial vehicle technology to strengthen the country's defense capabilities, local media reported Wednesday.
The measures are designed to improve Indonesia's readiness in technology and human resources as the country adopts advances in drone technology, Defense Technology Agency chief Rear Adm. Arif Harnanto said at the Indonesia Drone Expo in Jakarta.
The first step is to develop a mission-based roadmap, starting from defense needs and operational scenarios, Arif said.
Other measures include establishing strong interoperability standards, developing training and technology facilities, and gradually advancing drone technology, he said.
The government also plans to build a national data and artificial intelligence ecosystem and strengthen the supply chain for drone-related components, creating opportunities for domestic defense industries, Arif said. ■
