HANOI, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam has set up a national committee on aviation security and facilitation to coordinate major cross-sectoral issues in the field, the Ministry of Public Security's portal reported Wednesday.
Under a decision recently signed by Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, the committee will be chaired by Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc.
The committee is responsible for studying and proposing policies and measures to strengthen aviation security and facilitate air travel, while coordinating administrative reform, digital transformation, data sharing and implementation of the International Civil Aviation Organization's standards and recommended practices, said the report.
It is also in charge of coordinating measures to prevent and respond to unlawful interference with civil aviation, directing ministries and localities to assess aviation security risks and threats as required by law, and promoting international cooperation in aviation security and facilitation, the report added. ■
