MANILA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) plans to bring health services to about 1,000 coconut farmers in various municipalities in Palawan island, local media reported on Monday.

Services include medical, optical and dental care. The outreach will be conducted in the towns on Palawan island in August 2026, according to the reports.

"Medical checkups are very expensive these days. With these services, they won't need to travel far. Even if they do, it will only be within their municipality," Arlo Solano, the PCA Palawan acting division chief, was quoted by the Philippine Information Agency as saying.

Palawan is located in southwestern Philippines and is one of the country's major coconut-producing regions, with around 40,000 registered coconut farmers.
