BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications is actively researching appropriate approaches to ensure public transport services in the country remain continuous, quality-driven and easily accessible to the public, a senior official said on Monday.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Mohammed Riza Haji Mohd Yunos said during a Legislative Council meeting that the ministry is considering two main models for developing public transport services.
The first involves bus services along main routes, particularly in areas with high passenger demand. The second model involves introducing Demand Responsive Transit (DRT), which will be rolled out in phases. Initially, the DRT service will cover two zones before being expanded to other areas.
The minister stressed that the development of Brunei's public transport system will also include improvements to supporting infrastructure and greater use of technology to enhance the efficiency, accessibility and quality of public transport services. ■
