BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Achieving a dynamic and sustainable economy under Brunei Vision 2035 requires high and resilient economic growth as well as successful people, a government minister said on Saturday.
Speaking during a Legislative Council session, Haji Nazmi Haji Mohamad, minister at the Prime Minister's Office, said the goal requires increased productivity through the use of technology and innovation.
He said strengthening the private sector, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises, as well as attracting local and foreign direct investment, would also be important.
The minister also stressed the need to create a conducive working environment for Bruneians while generating more employment opportunities.
Haji Nazmi emphasized that macroeconomic stability remains an important component of Brunei's economic development. He said this includes improving the country's overall economic performance while ensuring that the inflation rate remains controlled and stable. ■
