NEW DELHI, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people were killed and 10 others injured Saturday after a private bus skidded off the road and fell onto a lower road in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, police said.
The accident took place on a mountainous stretch in the Chamba district, about 393 km north of Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh.
Reports said the bus was carrying 18 people at the time of the crash.
The cause of the accident is being investigated.
Meanwhile, torrential rains in Himachal Pradesh have led to the closure of 185 roads in the state.
According to the State Emergency Operation Center, 143 people were killed in the state since the monsoon began on June 30. Of them, 65 were killed in rain-related incidents, and 78 others lost their lives in road accidents. ■
