BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Brunei has implemented several public-private partnership (PPP) projects aimed at strengthening the country's renewable energy, tourism infrastructure and maritime connectivity, a government minister said on Thursday.
Speaking during the second session of the Legislative Council meeting for 2026, Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Brunei's second minister of finance, said the country's flagship PPP initiative is the 30-megawatt AC Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant near the capital, which is currently under construction and is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026.
The minister said that once fully operational, the solar power plant is expected to supply electricity to about 2,000 residential houses.
The minister added that Brunei's PPP with a foreign investor at Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd (MPC) has successfully improved the efficiency of port operations, strengthening Brunei's maritime connectivity and supporting the country's trade and logistics sector. ■
