Brunei continues to empower teachers through AI training

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Brunei will continue to empower teachers through continuous professional development to enhance their preparedness in artificial intelligence (AI), Hajah Romaizah Haji Md Salleh, Brunei's minister of education, said on Wednesday.

Speaking during the second session of the Legislative Council meeting for 2026, the minister said the ministry remains committed to equipping educators with the knowledge and skills needed to integrate AI effectively into teaching and learning.

Hajah Romaizah said a total of 4,892 teachers participated in AI courses conducted through the Brunei Darussalam Leadership and Teacher Academy in 2025.

She added that 4,281 teachers successfully obtained the AI In-depth Literacy Certification, while six teachers were appointed as Certified Master Trainers, strengthening the country's capacity to deliver AI-related training across the education sector.

The minister said the government's Digital Transformation Plan 2023-2027 has significantly enhanced digital infrastructure in schools.
