BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Brunei is formulating comprehensive strategic plans for its energy sector to ensure more integrated, outcome-driven and sustainable development, a government minister said on Wednesday.
Speaking during the second session of the Legislative Council meeting, Haji Mohamad Azmi Haji Mohd Hanifah, Brunei's minister for energy, upstream and downstream industries, said the strategic planning aims to build an energy sector that is sustainable, competitive and resilient in line with the aspirations of Brunei Vision 2035.
The minister said the framework is guided by key strategic principles, namely maintaining the competitiveness of Brunei's oil and gas industry and strengthening high-value downstream industries.
The strategic measures are not only aimed at strengthening the energy sector, but also support the country's agendas in strengthening safety, increasing economic competitiveness, and creating opportunities for the people. ■
