BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Brunei is ramping up efforts to attract high-value tourists as it prepares for Visit Brunei Year 2027, aiming to encourage longer stays, higher spending and more unique travel experiences, a government minister said on Wednesday.
Haji Abdul Manaf Metussin, Brunei's coordinating minister of economic policies and minister of economy, trade and industry, said the country is focusing on a tourism model that delivers greater economic returns while showcasing Brunei's distinctive attractions.
To achieve this, Brunei is stepping up international promotion through travel expos, collaboration with international news agencies and digital marketing campaigns with online travel platforms.
The minister said Brunei is also diversifying its tourism products by promoting adventure, nature-based experiences, arts, cultural heritage, community-based tourism, as well as sports and culinary tourism. ■
