MANILA, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Philippine inflation slowed to 6.2 percent in July from 6.4 percent in June, according to the latest data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority on Wednesday.
The slowdown was mainly attributed to a lower transport inflation rate, which eased to 11.9 percent from 12.8 percent in June, as gasoline inflation slowed to 34.1 percent from 39.2 percent.
The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development said government assistance programs for the transport sector helped support price stability.
The government said it would continue measures to stabilize prices by expanding support for farmers, strengthening food supply chains and accelerating renewable energy projects to reduce reliance on imported fuel. ■
