YANGON, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- A fighter aircraft of the Tatmadaw (Air), the air force of the Myanmar Armed Forces, crashed after being struck by a bird during a training flight in the country's Yangon region early Monday, military-owned Myawaddy TV reported.
The incident occurred at about 5:16 a.m. local time near Nyaunghnapin village in Hmawbi township, according to the report.
A bird entered the aircraft's engine, triggering a fire that caused the crash, the report said.
The pilot safely ejected after steering the aircraft away from a residential area before abandoning it, the report said.
Security forces are carrying out necessary security operations around the crash site. No crew members were injured in the incident, the report added. ■
