KABUL, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Works has started the construction of a bridge on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway at a cost of 19.6 million afghanis (about 282,000 U.S. dollars), the official media Bakhtar News Agency said on Sunday.
The bridge will be 28 meters long and is expected to improve traffic flow and facilitate the regulated passage of water upon completion, the report said.
The project is part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to upgrade transport infrastructure and improve road connectivity across the country. ■
