BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 jolted off east coast of North Island, New Zealand at 0835 GMT on Sunday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 37.82 degrees south latitude and 178.59 degrees east longitude. ■
