BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Four Brunei agricultural companies were awarded the Brunei Pesticide-Free (BPF) Certificate in the capital on Saturday in recognition of their commitment to chemical pesticide-free farming practices.
According to Brunei's Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, the certification is awarded to companies that successfully meet the requirements of the BPF certification scheme following a comprehensive assessment process.
The evaluation covers cultivation practices, farm management and monitoring systems, as well as post-harvest handling procedures.
The BPF certification program was established to recognize farms that practice chemical pesticide-free agriculture, supporting the production of safer and healthier local food.
The department said the certification also strengthens consumer confidence in the safety of locally produced agricultural products by enhancing transparency throughout the supply chain. ■
