BISHKEK, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Friday signed the Treaty on Alliance Relations between the two countries in Cholpon-Ata during the Azerbaijani leader's state visit to Kyrgyzstan, according to the Kyrgyz president's press service.
Earlier in the day, the two leaders held talks, after which they made statements to the media.
Japarov described the signing of the treaty as a major outcome of their discussions. "This truly historic event marks a new stage in Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani cooperation," he emphasized.
The Kyrgyz president also noted the signing of a substantial package of bilateral agreements covering energy, transport, cybersecurity, education, financial market regulation, and the circulation of precious metals. "The agreements reached confirm the mutual desire of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan to further deepen allied relations," he said.
According to the Azerbaijani presidential press service, Aliyev said, "Today, together with you, we have raised our interstate relations to the highest level, once again demonstrating our joint desire to strengthen our cooperation."
The Azerbaijani president stressed that alliance relations entail great responsibility and affirmed Azerbaijan's readiness to uphold them. "We will continue to support each other in all undertakings: on international platforms, in the trade and economic sphere, and in strengthening security," he said. ■
