KABUL, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have found the bodies of 14 Afghans who lost their lives due to thirst and extreme heat in the desert of Nimroz province in western Afghanistan, provincial government spokesman Mawlawi Mutawakil Tawhidi said Friday.

The 14 bodies were found in Righai Lalo area in recent days, and efforts are underway to transport them to the provincial capital Zaranj and then to their families, the official said.

A total of 19 Afghans went missing on their way to Iran about a month ago. Five bodies have been found and returned to their families in the northern Balkh province.

According to their families, the deceased had intended to travel to Iran illegally in search of work, but died due to extreme heat and dehydration in the desert.
