YANGON, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar police have seized 17.6 kg of heroin and 1 million stimulant tablets in central Myanmar's Mandalay region and Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, according to the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC).
The CCDAC said on Friday that acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched four motorcycles in Amarapura township of Mandalay region on Tuesday and confiscated 17.6 kg of heroin along with four suspects.
In a separate statement issued on Thursday, the CCDAC said police seized 1 million stimulant tablets in Lewe township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on July 23 and arrested five suspects.
The suspects in both cases have been charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, the CCDAC said. ■
