VIENTIANE, July 29 (Xinhua) -- The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology under the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on Wednesday issued a warning of flash floods and landslides as light to moderate thunderstorms are expected to continue across the country, with heavy rainfall forecast in some areas.
The Lao weather bureau has warned that 13 provinces across the country are at risk of flash floods and landslides. The provinces at highest risk are Oudomxay, Bolikhamxay, Khammuan, Savannakhet, Champasak and Attapeu.
Authorities are urging residents nationwide, particularly those living in flood and landslide-prone areas, to remain vigilant and take precautions against heavy rainfall. The public is also advised to continue monitoring official weather forecasts and water level updates from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology. ■
