BISHKEK, July 29 (Xinhua) -- The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan announced on Tuesday its decision to maintain the key interest rate at 12 percent.
The inflation rate in Kyrgyzstan has cumulatively reached 6.5 percent since the beginning of 2026, and 11.3 percent in annual terms, the central bank said in a statement.
Driven by external headwinds, food, fuel and lubricants have experienced the largest price increases in the current inflation structure, affecting the prices of other goods and services in the consumer basket, it said.
Almost all sectors of the economy are showing positive dynamics, leading to an 11.9 percent growth in gross domestic product, according to the statement.
The central bank noted that it has tightened monetary and credit conditions to minimize the impact of external inflationary factors on the country's economy.
The measures taken by the National Bank are expected to encourage household saving, maintain the purchasing power of the national currency and help bring inflation down to the target range of 5-7 percent in the medium term, the statement said. ■
