JAKARTA, July 28 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government is preparing fiscal incentives and other support measures for industrial estates that transition into green industrial estates, a senior Industry Ministry official said Tuesday.
The incentives will include tax support, as well as non-fiscal measures such as promotion and facilitation, said Tri Supondy, the ministry's director general for industrial resilience, regional development and international industrial access.
"We are proposing a stronger regulatory framework requiring every industrial estate to prepare a roadmap for its transition into a green industrial estate," Tri said during the inauguration of the Eco-Industrial Park Center in Jakarta.
"Industrial estates that obtain green industrial estate status will receive fiscal incentives and special facilities that will not be available to those without such status," he added.
The ministry is also working with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to speed up the development of green industrial estates by strengthening the eco-industrial park ecosystem.
The newly inaugurated center will serve as a hub to support the transition toward more sustainable industrial development, according to the ministry. ■
