JAKARTA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo has resigned for "personal reasons," State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said at a press conference on Monday.

Acting Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti said the central bank's operations would continue without disruption to maintain the stability of the rupiah, payment systems and the financial system.

"Bank Indonesia will ensure the continuity of its duties and authority by upholding good governance and maintaining coordination with the government," the central bank said in a statement.

Destry said the process of selecting a new governor would be carried out promptly in accordance with procedures stipulated by law.

Perry had headed Indonesia's central bank since 2018 and was serving his second term, which was due to end in 2028.
