ISLAMABAD, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces foiled a terrorist attack on a check post in the country's northwestern South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing four militants.
The Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the military, said on Saturday that the attackers attempted to storm the check post using an explosives-laden vehicle, but security personnel destroyed the vehicle outside the post's perimeter, preventing any damage.
According to the statement, four terrorists were killed, including a suicide bomber, by the security forces during the attack.
The military said a sanitization operation was underway to eliminate any remaining militants in the area, adding that law enforcement agencies would continue counterterrorism operations in the country. ■
