ISLAMABAD, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, reaffirming close cooperation on regional security and maritime stability.
During the conversation, Sharif strongly condemned attacks by the Houthi militia on Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, describing them as unacceptable acts that violate international law, threaten freedom of navigation, and undermine regional peace and security.
He reiterated Pakistan's solidarity with Saudi Arabia, saying the Pakistani leadership and people stand firmly with the kingdom during the current situation.
The two leaders agreed to continue working closely to promote regional peace, security and stability, and to ensure the uninterrupted flow of lawful maritime commerce through the Red Sea, the Strait of Hormuz and the wider region. ■
