ISLAMABAD, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday urged all warring sides in the Gulf region to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could further destabilize the region during talks with visiting Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, the Prime Minister's Office said.
Meeting the Iranian minister in Islamabad, Sharif voiced deep concern over the recent escalation in the Gulf and reiterated Pakistan's commitment to regional peace and stability.
The prime minister said Pakistan would continue to play the role of an honest and sincere mediator and facilitator to help ease tensions in the region. ■
