MELBOURNE, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese new-energy vehicle maker XPENG on Tuesday unveiled its development plan for the Australian market as part of its broader strategy for Australia and New Zealand, with its seven-seat flagship X9 making its Australian debut and the right-hand-drive version of the L03 compact SUV also on display.
The company said it would rely on its factory-backed operations in Australia to expand its sales and service network while improving spare-parts supply and vehicle repair services.
At the event, XPENG Vice Chairman and President Brian Gu outlined the company's strategy for Australia and New Zealand, while Damian Royce, head of marketing at XPENG ANZ, introduced the company's local market and dealer-network plans.
The event also featured the company's intelligent driver-assistance technology and a model of its IRON humanoid robot, along with its modular flying car, known as the Land Aircraft Carrier.
XPENG said the X9 is now available to order in Australia, while the L03 is scheduled to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2026. Over the next six months, the company plans to launch five new models in Australia, establish three flagship technology experience centers and expand its nationwide sales network to as many as 50 outlets.
The company has appointed authorized dealers in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia.
After-sales service is a key part of the expansion plan. XPENG ANZ has opened a genuine parts warehouse at a Melbourne facility managed in partnership with FedEx, supporting next-day parts delivery to several major cities.
The company has also established a three-tier technical support system comprising factory-trained specialist dealers, remote diagnostics based on vehicle data and field technicians who can provide support at dealerships when required. ■
