KABUL, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan exported more than 1,280 tonnes of animal products worth 1.123 million U.S. dollars in the first three months of this year, nearly seven times higher than the same period last year, the local media Tolo news said Saturday.
The exports, consisting mainly of animal hides and intestines, were shipped to the United States, India, Türkiye, Austria, Iran, and Lebanon, the report said.
Officials said the products are collected from across the country and processed before export. Exporters called for greater investment in leather-processing facilities to boost value-added production and increase export earnings. ■
