ISLAMABAD, July 16 (Xinhua) -- At least five policemen were injured in a suicide attack in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, an official said on Thursday.
The attack occurred late Wednesday night when a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a police station in Bannu district of the province, Bannu District Police Officer Muhammad Furqan Bilal told media.
The blast damaged part of the station, he said, adding that several nearby shops and parked vehicles also got damaged in the blast.
Following the blast, police, rescue teams and additional contingents of security forces rushed to the site and shifted the injured people to a nearby hospital in the district.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in the surroundings.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. ■
