SINGAPORE, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Only four in 10 professionals, managers, executives and technicians in Singapore are confident they can distinguish accurate information from AI-generated misinformation, according to a survey released on Tuesday.

Fewer than half of the 1,150 respondents surveyed between June and July said they would verify the original source of a statistic before forming an opinion, even when reading an AI-generated summary in a search engine, the poll by KPMG in Singapore and the National Library Board (NLB) found.

"These findings are a reminder that even when we know content may be AI-generated or incomplete, we may still accept it too readily. This is why discernment, judgment, and careful reading matter," Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Rahayu Mahzam said at an event launching the year-long "Read to Lead: Building an AI-Ready Mind" initiative.

The initiative by KPMG in Singapore and the NLB aims to promote reading in the workplace and strengthen critical evaluation skills through talks, interactive activities and other resources.
