PHNOM PENH, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The Lancang-Mekong Regional Cybersecurity Forum opened in northwest Cambodia's Siem Reap province on Wednesday to address critical issues in policy, infrastructure protection, cloud data security, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
Funded by the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, the three-day event brought together roughly 30 officials and computer emergency response professionals from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, according to Cambodia's Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC).
"Mitigating rapidly evolving cyber threats requires joint regional efforts and mutual trust," said Ung Sokoudom, an MPTC advisor who presided over the forum.
He emphasized that the ministry aims to tighten regional cybersecurity to support a sustainable digital economy.
Sokoudom also reaffirmed Cambodia's ongoing commitment to upgrading its cybersecurity defense through stronger legal frameworks, human capital, and enhanced technical capacity. ■
