NEW DELHI, July 14 (Xinhua) -- India's retail inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 4.38 percent in June, the latest government data showed on Monday.
According to data released by the federal Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban areas are 4.74 percent and 3.92 percent, respectively.
In May, CPI was 3.93 percent.
Meanwhile, food inflation in June rose to 5.32 percent.
"Year-on-year inflation rate based on All India Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) for the month of June 2026 over June 2025 is 5.32 percent (provisional)," the ministry said. "Corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban are 5.45 percent and 5.09 percent, respectively."
In May, the CFPI was 4.78.
According to the government data, Telangana had the highest retail inflation at 6.36 percent, followed by Andhra Pradesh (5.39 percent) and Tamil Nadu (5.24 percent). ■
