PHNOM PENH, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's international air passenger traffic dropped 7 percent year-on-year to 3.27 million in the first half of 2026, according to an official report released Tuesday.
The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) report showed that flights to Cambodia's international airports remained flat year-on-year, totaling 32,306 from January to June.
It added that the Southeast Asian nation's air cargo volume jumped 29 percent to 47,627 tonnes in the first half of the year.
SSCA's Secretary of State and Spokesperson Sinn Chanserey Vutha said that Cambodia's civil aviation sector experienced divergent trends across its primary traffic segments in the first half of 2026.
"The defining milestone of the first half of the year was the rapid acceleration in air cargo volume, which surged 29 percent year-on-year compared to H1 2025," he said. "Conversely, passenger traffic softened by 7 percent, while commercial aircraft movements remained completely flat."
He said Cambodia has four operational international airports, Techo International Airport, which serves the capital city of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, Sihanouk International Airport, and Dara Sakor International Airport, which currently handles domestic flights only.
According to Vutha, 33 airlines, 29 international and four domestic, currently connect Cambodia to other ASEAN member states, East Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East. ■
