JAKARTA, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in Indonesia rose to 12,653 units in June from 9,290 units in May, industry data showed Tuesday.
Data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries, or Gaikindo, showed that BEV sales reached 69,739 units in the first half of the year, accounting for about 16 percent of total national vehicle sales during the period.
The Jaecoo J5, produced by Chery, led June sales with 3,041 units, while BYD was the top-selling electric vehicle brand overall, recording sales of 3,439 units across its model lineup.
Hybrid vehicle sales also remained strong in June, with 8,215 conventional hybrid vehicles and 2,402 plug-in hybrid vehicles sold. ■
