KABUL, July 12 (Xinhua) -- A three-day exhibition showcasing agricultural produce, traditional handicrafts, and locally manufactured products opened on Saturday in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Afghanistan's Balkh province, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced on Sunday.
The fair, featuring 170 booths operated by farmers, livestock breeders, and local entrepreneurs, aims to bolster domestic production, stimulate national industry, attract investment, and highlight Afghanistan's productive capacities in pursuit of greater economic self-sufficiency, according to the ministry's statement.
Organizers say the event offers a crucial platform for local producers to display their offerings while promoting domestic consumption.
The Afghan government has organized similar exhibitions across multiple provinces as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the agriculture sector, support homegrown products, and advance the country's economic resilience. ■
