KABUL, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have launched a key road construction project in southern Helmand province on Wednesday to improve connectivity and economic opportunities in an underserved region, the official Bakhtar News Agency reported.
Fully funded by the Afghan government's national budget for 1.52 billion afghanis (around 23.77 million U.S. dollars), the project is expected to streamline transportation, facilitate trade routes, and stimulate economic activities between Grishk district and surrounding regions, said the report.
The Afghan government plans to roll out additional development, infrastructure and agricultural projects to tackle persistent economic challenges and promote job creation throughout the war-stricken country. ■
