NEW DELHI, July 7 (Xinhua) -- The high court of India's western state of Gujarat on Tuesday upheld the death sentence for 38 people who were found guilty of triggering serial blasts in the state in 2008, killing over 50 persons and injuring nearly 200.

Besides, the court also upheld life imprisonment for 11 others.

A series of 21 bomb blasts took place on July 26, 2008, across 20 locations in Gujarat's Ahmedabad city within a span of 70 minutes. Subsequently, the city police had named more than 100 persons as accused. However, the special court found 49 persons guilty, while acquitting the rest.
