SCO green energy academic forum held in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, July 2 (Xinhua) -- The 3rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) forum of academicians on green energy was held here on Thursday, bringing together academicians, experts, university leaders and representatives of research institutions.

Addressing the forum, Kyrgyz Deputy Energy Minister Salavat Sadyrakunov said that green energy has become a key driver of energy security, sustainable economic growth, and technological development across SCO countries. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan remains committed to strengthening cooperation within the SCO framework and is interested in implementing joint scientific, technological, and investment projects in green energy.

Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jiangping said that China is actively advancing its green and low-carbon transition and has built the world's largest renewable energy system, making a significant contribution to global green development. She added that China is ready to work with all parties to implement the Global Development Initiative and deepen cooperation in green energy, contributing to the SCO's efforts to improve the global energy governance system.

Zhang Liqun, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University, said that advancing sustainable development requires the collective efforts and intellect of various parties. He noted that the university will give full play to its advantages, continue to expand cooperation with universities and research institutions across Central Asia in joint research, development of platforms, achievement transformation and talent cultivation, and contribute to the region's green and low-carbon transformation.

The forum was jointly organized by Xi'an Jiaotong University, the International University of Kyrgyzstan, and the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
