MANILA, July 3 (Xinhua) -- A police officer, 36, was killed in an ambush in Zamboanga del Sur province, southern Philippines, by two motorcycle-riding assailants who shot him and fled with his belongings, according to local police on Friday.
On Thursday, a police staff sergeant surrendered and admitted driving the motorcycle in Wednesday's ambush after investigators identified him through surveillance footage. The sergeant identified his alleged accomplice as the gunman.
