BANGKOK, July 3 (Xinhua) -- The International Operational Dialogue on Countering Cyber Scam and Forced Criminality concluded here on Friday with the rollout of a pioneering information-sharing platform designed by Thailand to dismantle transnational cyber scams and human trafficking networks.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Tatchai Pitaneelaboot, deputy commissioner general of the Royal Thai Police and director of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Center, said delays in information sharing between authorities often slow investigations, arrests, and victim rescues.
"To address these challenges, the Thai government has developed a centralized web application that enables participating countries to exchange data securely and efficiently," he told delegates from partner nations and international organizations.
He introduced that the newly deployed "SCAM and Human Trafficking Information Exchange and Linked Database," or SHIELD, is the focal point of the collaboration, which seamlessly integrates cross-border communications, banking transaction records, and mobility data to directly map and dismantle complex global fraud syndicates.
Tatchai emphasized that the strength of partnership lies in real-time, actionable intelligence sharing and timely operations.
"In this fight, timely action is everything. Every minute we save is a life protected," he noted.
Minister of Social Development and Human Security Nikorn Soemklang said Thailand stands ready to work alongside trusted partners, hoping that shared commitment can be translated into concrete action through stronger legal frameworks, closer international cooperation, effective law enforcement, and meaningful protection for victims. ■
