JAKARTA, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, known as Whoosh, brought nearly 70,000 foreign visitors to West Java during the first five months of 2026, underscoring its growing role in supporting tourism in the province, official data showed on Wednesday.
A total of 69,874 foreign arrivals were recorded through Whoosh stations in the January-May period, with arrivals rising 27.3 percent month on month to 17,523 in May, according to the West Java office of the national statistics agency.
International traffic at Kertajati Airport in West Java nearly doubled in May, largely driven by the Hajj pilgrimage season.
Whoosh, Southeast Asia's first high-speed railway, operates at speeds of up to 350 km per hour, reducing travel time between Jakarta and Bandung from around four hours to about 45 minutes. ■
