JAKARTA, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia said it has recorded more than 4.8 million social media accounts belonging to minors under 16 being deactivated since restrictions on children's social media use took effect in March this year.
The country's Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs said on Tuesday that the total includes about 4.1 million TikTok accounts, 600,000 YouTube accounts, and around 185,000 accounts across Meta platforms.
The ministry has called on other digital platforms that have not yet submitted periodic reports on child protection measures and underage account enforcement to fulfill their obligations.
So far, around 200 digital platforms from the e-commerce, online gaming, and entertainment sectors have submitted self-assessments of their risk profiles to the government. ■
