HANOI, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and another critically injured after a truck plunged into a ravine in Vietnam's northern mountainous province of Son La early Saturday morning, local media VnExpress reported.
The accident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. on a national highway. The vehicle struck a roadside safety barrier before veering off the road and plunging about 20 meters into a ravine.
Two people died at the scene, while the third was thrown from the truck and taken to hospital in critical condition.
Police said the driver failed to keep to the correct lane and lost control of the vehicle. ■
