KABUL, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have uncovered a factory producing counterfeit agricultural chemicals in eastern Nangarhar province and arrested three suspects, the official media Bakhtar news agency said on Thursday.
According to the report, security personnel raided the facility and seized nearly 3,500 cartons of fake agricultural chemicals that were allegedly being manufactured and distributed to local markets.
The three suspects were taken into custody during the operation and are currently under investigation, the report said.
Authorities noted that the production and sale of counterfeit agricultural products pose serious risks to farmers, crop yields, and public health. Efforts are underway to identify those involved in the distribution network and prevent similar activities in the future.
The seized chemicals have been transferred to the relevant authorities for further examination, while legal proceedings against the suspects are ongoing. ■
