JAKARTA, June 24 (Xinhua) -- The 2026 China-Indonesia Think Tank and Media Forum was held here on Wednesday.
During the event, representatives from think tanks, media, and academic institutions engaged in discussions on topics such as deepening China-Indonesia cooperation, strengthening exchanges and mutual learning, and promoting the solidarity and development of the Global South.
In his speech at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong said the year 2026 marks the final year of the five-year plan of action for strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Indonesia, adding that bilateral trade reached 167.49 billion U.S. dollars in 2025.
Today, China is thriving and is striding forward on the path of advancing Chinese modernization, Wang said, expressing hope that the media and think tanks will continue to serve as bridges of communication and vividly tell the stories of China-Indonesia friendly cooperation.
For her part, Tong Xiaoling, vice president of the China Public Diplomacy Association, said cooperation between the two countries is gaining momentum in such areas as agriculture, digital economy, artificial intelligence, green energy and healthcare, while industrial and supply chain collaboration holds enormous potential.
She expressed hope that think tanks and media organizations from both sides would seize the opportunities presented by a new historical starting point and play a greater role in advancing China-Indonesia relations.
Indonesian Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Stella Christie said cooperation between Indonesia and China in higher education and talent development has continued to deepen in recent years.
Through close academia-industry collaboration, the two sides have achieved mutually beneficial outcomes and shared development, she said. ■
